This new visit, in addition to the booklet "Trou de mémoire" available at the Fumel-Vallée du Lot tourist office, leads to the discovery of the workers' cities of the former Fumel metallurgical plant.
As early as 1874, a first blast furnace left its mark on this agricultural plain linked to the Lot River.
Quickly, La Compagnie d'Orléans, then Pont-à-Mousson, took care to offer for rent or sale bars of workers' lodgings or houses of engineers and foremen.
Today these emblematic cities have been classified as 20th Century Heritage Label; and Métal Temple Aquitaine has ceased all activity.
The guided tour evokes the daily life of their former inhabitants by reading the styles of houses, the materials used for their construction, their layout, the names of the streets, etc.
On reservation.
