This new visit, in addition to the booklet "Trou de mémoire" available at the Fumel-Vallée du Lot tourist office, leads to the discovery of the workers' housing estates of the former metallurgical factory of Fumel.
From 1874, a first blast furnace laid down and imposed its mark on this agricultural plain linked to the Lot river.
Quickly La Compagnie d'Orléans, then Pont-à-Mousson, took care to offer workers' lodgings or houses for engineers and foremen for rent or sale.
Today these emblematic cities have been classified as a 20th century Heritage Label; and Métal Temple Aquitaine ceased all activity.
The guided tour evokes the daily life of their former inhabitants by reading the styles of houses, the materials used for their construction, their layout, the names of the streets, etc...
By reservation.
