The Fumel hydraulic power plant, after some 80 years of service, is still active; and with a bright future ahead of it for its ability to provide us with this renewable energy that we so badly need.
Of the "over the water" type, it was built by Pont-à-Mousson, then owner of the Fumel metallurgical plant which had an increased need for energy for the reconstruction of France... We were just after the war...
You will enter the plant for a panoramic view of the two Kaplan turbines, real collectors! The visit does not descend to the lower levels.
